Paul takes on the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge!

Firebrand’s Sales & Marketing Director, Paul, is taking on the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge on the 1st April 2023! Taken from the Three Peaks Challenge’s website, the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge is a 23-mile (37km) round trip route. While on the route, Paul will be taking in three classic Surrey hills – Box HillHolmbury Hill, and county-top Leith Hill. All of which have incredible views!

Paul’s challenge sees him raise money for the Eden Reforestation Projects. This means, when he receives a donation, this will go towards planting a tree! The trees planted are Mangrove Trees. The good thing about Mangroves is they a major point of discussion at COP27. Taken from the India Time’s website, in an effort to achieve the goal of carbon sinking by restoring mangrove plantations, the Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC) was launched at the 27th session of the COP in partnership with India.

Mangrove Trees are also the trees that we plant as part of our tree planting initiative. When you place a £500 order for branded merchandise, we’ll plant 10 trees in partnership with Climate Wise. To give transparency on the CO2 savings, Mangrove trees have an average growth cycle of 25 years. Over the course of the 25-year cycle, they will absorb 308kg of CO₂ per tree or just over 12.32kg of CO₂ per year.

On Paul’s Just Giving page, we have created a helpful guide to help you understand how many tree’s your donations will plant. For example, you could help us to plant 20 trees by donating £3!

Paul has shared the following with us – “The training so far is going well with a mix of walking and running. I am also grateful to Dan at the Outdoors Company for sending me some kit to support the main event in April. On behalf of Mother Nature, thanks to those that have donated so far and if you haven’t donated yet, please do, and offset some of your personal carbon footprint. Our world is precious, and we can make a difference”.
